Aim

To facilitate the full participation into the local community of all those involved in the agriculture sectors in the area.

Objectives

bulletSustain a vibrant rural community
bulletKeep as many farm families as possible in their local community
bulletPromote the positive contribution that smallholders make to rural communities
bulletPromote the uptake of schemes and services
bulletPromote an ethos of parallel or alternative farm income
bulletPromote improved breeding of both cattle and sheep which will improve quality
bulletEncourage young people to stay farming in the area
bulletEncourage the development of farm partner ships

Strategies & Actions

Co-ordinate the provision of agriculture advice and information service to groups and individuals and groups in partnership with Teagasc and other relevant agencies.

bulletPromote & develop a support network for young farmers in co-operation with existing groups e.g. Macra na Feirme
bulletHarness the existing skills base of smallholders & provide the relevant training for up-skilling

The overall objective is to build on our achievements to date and provide a vehicle where by all rural dwellers will have the opportunity to access information and resources which will allow them reasonable standard of living in their own area.
